The first book cover I did for Jan C. Thorpe, my sister-in-law and author. She has written three more books and two in the works. A Series. We needed a palette and something eye-catching.

who rise out of blood-soaked ground,

with earth, air, water, and fire bearing many

colors to blow them back to kingdom come.

I worked with Joe Jannotta for a couple years finishing this book. He and his wife Gina were very gracious as I spent a lot of time at their cottage at Casa Dorinda.

The Woman I Am is a poetic autobiography that gives readers an inside view of the author’s revolution from a fearful teenage virgin bride to a resilient, sometimes raunchy world traveler.  Johns shares her life lessons with the lightest touch and great humor – letting us live through her experiences of world events such as WW2, JFK’s death, 9-11, and Y2K as well as her own personal journey as wife, mother, recovering alcoholic and survivor. Ultimately this book offers a message of love, faith and optimism in an intensely relatable, readable and enjoyable voice. It reminds us to treasure our lives and those we love every day.
